Council Releases its Law-by-law Review of Council Period 20
The history of the Council is organized by two-year Council Periods, from January of an odd-numbered year, to December of the following year. Absent a death or resignation, the makeup of the Council should not change during that time. It consists of the councilmembers elected in the previous November, and prior to any potential change-up in the Council membership resulting from the subsequent election two years later.

Although it is still quite recent history, it is already time to look back on Council Period 20, which wrapped up in December of 2014. We have compiled a guide to every piece of permanent legislation passed during this two-year period. On the list, you will find everything from ceremonial street re-namings to the Budget Support Act, which provides the legislative context to the full District budget.
